Being Active with Your Partner

Are you tired of date night always revolving around food and drinks? Put excitement and energy back into your relationship by planning more opportunities for being active together—instead of or in addition to eating!

Here are a few ideas to help you step into your next date night adventure:

  • Go for a hike.  Hiking is a perfect way to get fresh air, sunshine, and exercise, while spending time together. Pack a picnic in your backpack and enjoy dinner together on a local trail. You just might end up with the best seat in town for dinner!
  • Sign up for a class. Have you ever wanted to try couples’ yoga, ballroom dancing, or kickboxing? Joining a class can be a great way to spend time together. By signing up in advance, you’re more likely to set aside the same time every week and have something to look forward to.
  • Try a new sport. Mountain biking, tennis, kayaking, pickle ball, or indoor rock climbing… the opportunities are endless! You will both be learning and having fun together, no matter what your skill level or expertise.
  • Volunteer. Follow your passion and find a local organization that could benefit from the combination of your skills and/or knowledge! Whether it’s a one-time project or an ongoing effort, enjoy spending time together and helping others—from building trails or houses to helping out at a community kitchen.

The best thing about putting more activity into your date nights is that the opportunities are endless. Planning more healthy activities can help the relationship thrive and maintain your health and fitness through the years!

Did You Know?

When you do a moderate to intense activity with your partner–such as hiking, biking or running– your body releases endorphins that give you that “feel good” feeling.

Endorphins help release stress and increase feelings of happiness – it’s a win-win!
